A Year Since THE Fall

As we go through our usual family fall activities of a pumpkin patch, costumes, Trunk-or-Treat, I remembered that Mon Amour had his fall a year ago. A year ago today he was having maxillofacial surgery. Sitting there, waiting for him, it was hitting me very deeply that our family was forever changed in its direction and future. We are so blessed a year later to have all the answers that we do, even if they aren't the most pleasant. But as I'm caring for 3 sick family members and steeped in personal stresses, currently I'm just so worn out. I love having the family traditions of fall, even if we've had to adapt some of them. My life is full of many positive things and I make sure to acknowledge them and hold on to gratitude. However, I am also realistic and know the need to be in the emotions that want to be felt as well as how stressful things take time to be worked through. I'm taking the family sickness to slow us all down for a bit and just have a few lazy days watching Halloween movies and shows together.

Apologies

Not that you all were anxiously awaiting my posts, but I apologize that it has been so long. Things were busy with:

*prepping for my stepkids' 6 week visit

*Stepkids' arrival

*Summer activities for family of 7

*Going to the ER because my symptoms were like meningitis but it was actually Covid (my first time getting it)

*Being wiped out for 4 days trying to recover and making sure immunocompromised Monkey #3 then later Mon Amour were OK.

*There is so much more to the story, but the end result is stepkids chose to leave their 6-week summer time with us four weeks early. It was a really awful, emotional situation that hurt Mon Amour more than his terminal diagnosis did. It hurt me a lot, too, and also made me angry because of how much they hurt their father and their siblings. I spent several weeks working on forgiving them.

*Potty training the youngest which blessings of blessings came along very well.

*Getting our estate planning taken care of

*Monkey #3 starting 1st grade and Monkeys #4 and #5 starting preschool

*Efforts for recruitment for my preschool music class that I was starting up, then starting it up

And somewhere in there the laptop my husband had changed over for me to use got corrupted and wouldn't let me log in to do anything.

Since getting a new-to-me laptop for myself, my time has still been busy with homeschooling, prepping and teaching my classes, and so much work on the yard.

But I'm back now! The stress and busyness haven't gone away, but hopefully I can get back to writing as I need the therapeutic outlet.
